Friday 30th March to Monday 2nd April
I’m afraid this is all a bit repetative!
Friday we walked to Tesco’s (taking 30 mins along the towpath) and did some shopping. Later on, as it was cooler than Thursday, we decided to walk George to The Galleon, which we did. Unfortunately, not only was it cooler, it was a lot cooler and after sitting outside the pub with him for a while we were frozen!
Saturday we wanted to get some water, we had passed the water point at Cosgrove Lock. If we had wanted to we could have gone down to the Galleon, turned round, then gone back up to Cosgrove Lock and turned round again to get to the water point. Or we could have (as Barry did) reversed back to the water point. We did neither of these things opting to walk to the water point with our collapsible containers and the trolley. After we had fetched a couple of containers of water we went to Tesco’s (again) and to the pub (again).
Sunday was a better day weather wise so after another water collecting trip (I know, our lives are just soooo exciting!) we walked George to The Barleymow. Never let it be said we don’t take our dog on a variety of walks and to a variety of pubs!
Monday was a bit more interesting! Once again the weather was lovely so Ken and I went for a walk by the River Great Ouse in the morning. We went under the canal through a foot tunnel emerging below the Iron Trunk Aqueduct. Before the aqueduct was built the canal took a different line and there were some locks there. One still remains although it is filled in now. We walked along the river to a mill (can’t remember the name of it) then back across the fields to Cosgrove where we went to the Caravan Site shop (now open) which is quite a good shop.
Later we went to The Galleon with B and B to meet Clifford, Louise and Sian for lunch which was most enjoyable. After lunch we all went back to the boats and had tea and some of Barbara’s homemade fruit cake, yum!
