Cosgrove to Fenny Stratford – On The Move Again

Tuesday 3rd April

So, after 6 pleasant days at Cosgrove we have finally moved on through Milton Keynes and are currently moored at Fenny Stratford. When I say we, I mean Ken and I are moored at Fenny Stratford, B and B are about 2.5 miles further on near Stoke Hammond.

We left this morning about 8 am and our first port of call was Tesco’s (again), where  I made a start while Ken went off to the fishing tackle shop. We then had about 4 miles to go to get to the water point at Giffard Park. This took quite a bit of time due to the amount of moored boats along the way. When we arrived at the water point at 10-45am there was one chap already using the tap. Lots of other boats were moored up there but no one else was actually waiting for water. We got into the last available space and when B and B arrived they breasted up to us.

I should have realised there was a problem with the water pressure when I used the elsan and the tap in there was just producing a trickle! Anyway, we waited – and waited – and waited for this chap’s tank to become full but it was apparent that this was going to be a long job. After about 30 minutes, to save time, B and B decided to move on to the next tap.

We carried on waiting and finally, just before 12pm, the chap’s tank was full. Unfortunately he had a reserve tank which he also wanted to fill! We decided to have some lunch. Fortunately the reserve tank was smaller than the main tank and we eventually got to start filling our tank at 12-35pm, nearly 2 hours after we arrived! And 50 minutes later we were off again, hurrah!

Once more there were a lot of boats moored up along the way and the going was slow. B and B texted to let us know where they had moored up. Although it had been a fairly nice day it was now starting to get cold with the threat of rain. By the time we had arrived at Fenny Stratford it was getting on for 4 pm  and as there was a convenient space on the end of the 14 day moorings we decided to stop.

The forecast for tomorrow is really grim and it remains to be seen whether we move or not.
