Monday 30th April
This April has been the wettest since the year 2000, there has never been a wetter drought than this, I blame global warming! Fortunately there has been not a drop of rain here today and it has been very warm. We have made good progress travelling 10 miles and 10 locks from Denham to Hanwell and are moored near Osterley Lock. Including a water stop and 2 sanitary station visits this journey took 6.5 hours. Why 2 sanitary station visits? Well, at the one at Cowley was the most disgusting elsan I have ever encountered and I just couldn’t bear to go in there! I won’t even try to describe it to you it was so bad. I left emptying the cassette until I got to the next one.
Although it was quite late when we arrived here this afternoon, we took George for a toddle to The Fox at Hanwell. It was quite warm but he did very well getting there and back in a fairly quick time. He hasn’t been out for a week so he was keen to go. His foot doesn’t seem to be bothering him at all now but we have yet to remove the bandage. I hope all is well underneath there when we do!
We are now only 2 miles and 4 locks from Brentford and have to be up at 5-30am tomorrow to leave at 7am so we can get to Brentford Lock in plenty of time to catch the tide on to the Thames at 9am.
