Goring to Shillingford Bridge

Friday 1st June

We have come a bit further today, in fact a bit further than we intended. We had wanted to stop at Wallingford and when we got there there were some free moorings (£5 per night) on the left as we came under the bridge but they were too high for George to get off. So we headed for one we spotted on the right but it turned out to be reserved for the Salter’s Trip Boat!

We carried on for another couple of miles or so and as we liked the look of it we decided to stop, at great expense, at the Shillingford Bridge Hotel. The moorings here are £20 per night (ouch) but they include electric, which we have been making good use of and 20% off in the bar, which we have also been making good use of!

I have finally managed to do some interior cleaning today which I have been unable to do for ages so I am feeling really pleased with myself. Must do the outside next but I’m going to wait until the rain on Sunday has softened the baked on dirt before I tackle that!

Tomorrow we are hoping to get in on the 5 day moorings at Abingdon for the weekend.
