Pangbourne to Goring/Streatley

Thursday 31st May

As I said the lovely moorings at Pangbourne are for 24 hours only so today we have moved on. We have only come 4 miles and 1 lock and are moored below Goring bridge. The moorings here are quite high (about a foot above the gunwhales) making it relatively it easy to reach the roof so we had yet another bit of a clean up of the dead flies, leaves, bird poo and other recently collected muckiness!

After this (unusual) burst of activity we walked in to Goring, which is to the right of the bridge, where we found the butchers recommended to us by a couple we met on the moorings at Reading Tesco’s. We bought some sausages and a rather expensive gammon joint. Then we walked in to Streatley, which is to the left of the bridge, where we bypassed the very posh Swan Diplomat Hotel and found The Bull, recommended to us by someone we met at Pangbourne, very nice.

These moorings are also 24 hours only but as we are unable to get a very good digital tv/radio signal here we would be moving tomorrow any way.
