Oxford to Kidlington – Near Roundham Lock

Wednesday 6th June

Not a very exciting day today,  we have travelled 4.5 miles, 4 locks (lovely little single ones) and 3 lift bridges (one you needed to be Geoff Capes to operate!) from Oxford to Kidlington. We have been lucky with the weather, only copping a couple of showers all day and none before we moored up.

We are moored above Roundham Lock. We were going to Thrupp but spotted a nice mooring here and stopped (as we do) just after lunch. We knew there was a shop near the next bridge (and a pub) so it was ideal.

The shop is a very handy small Coop over the bridge past the rather tatty Highwayman Hotel and it took us about 10 minutes to walk there. The pub was ok but the beer was a bit suspect, as was the landlord who just had to finish his text before he served us!

Tomorrow we may go to Thrupp depending on the weather.
