Newbold to Hawkesbury Junction

Tuesday 26th June

4 hours of travelling today brought us another 11 miles from Newbold to Hawkesbury Junction. No locks because we didn’t go through the stop lock on to the Coventry canal. We are moored just round the corner, before the official moorings, under all the electric pylons! It is actually a very nice spot.

We popped off to The Greyhound for a couple this afternoon. We didn’t take George because he went for a walk yesterday and we don’t want to put too much strain on his leg. Yesterday we got the results of the tests he had done at Banbury last week and he has a tumor on his ‘elbow’ but apparently it isn’t the kind which may spread to other places. It would be very difficult to remove but we aren’t going to put him through major surgery at his time of life. It may get bigger or not as the case may be. He can remain on the pain killer/anti inflammatory to keep him comfortable. As things stand at the moment he seems fairly ok.

We are continuing our journey back to Mercia, we think he needs to be near his vet and I still need to go to one myself! Tomorrow we are heading for Atherstone.
