Here We Go Again – Mercia Marina to ……Not very far at all!

Saturday 2nd March 2013

After 8 months of incarceration in the marina we have finally left! Sadly we lost George last July and didn’t have the heart to go out again after that. I was not very well either but am better now and looking forward to this year’s cruising.

We have managed to travel all of half a mile, we can still see the marina from here! We can also see the sky, the bank and some trees. Well, we can now I have cleaned the windows!

As we moored here, opposite the Railway Cottages, I noticed a smell of burning rubber, not a good sign. Ken investigated and discovered the alternator belt needed changing, the joys of boating! An hour and a half and not much swearing (unusually) later he had changed all the belts.

We had £13 worth of loyalty points on our Dragon card so wasted no time getting in there to spend them. Due to the lovely weather the pub was rammed with, mainly, families and after sitting inside for a while (with the noise and the smells) we went and sat outside in the sun which was surprisingly warm and rather pleasant.

Tomorrow we are making our way to Shobnall fields in readiness for going into Shobnall Marina on Monday for bottom blacking (the boat not me!) We will then be spending 4 days at the Hilton in Darby.
