Sunday 10th March
We have been moored here at Branston Bridge since leaving Shobnall Marina on Friday. Our bottom is newly blacked and we have had a full service. We also had the chimney removed, cleaned out, replaced and resealed while we were not using the fire and we had the loo serviced so we are now in possession of an electric flush again! All of which cost nearly £1,000, very reasonable we thought.
Friday evening we availed ourselves of the services of the Blacksmith’s Arms and the fish and chip shop in the village and jolly good they both were too!
Saturday we were going to walk to Morrison’s but decided instead, to get the bus to Burton and go to Tesco’s as the bus stop was a lot nearer to the boat than Morrison’s for getting back with the shopping.
Today we walked to Barton which is about 2 miles from here. It was very windy, sleeting and cold but the Barton Turns Inn had a lovely coal fire going and a very nice pint of Pedigree! It also had the added bonus of not being packed with Mother’s Day lunchers.
Tomorrow we are going to Lichfield on the bus.
