Monday 11th March
Today was definitely NOT a day for travelling. It was FREEZING cold and very windy with snow showers, BRRR!!! We were glad we had decided to go to Lichfield on the bus instead. We got the Midland Classic X12 from Branston Church (£4-40 return).
When we got to Lichfield we visited the cathedral which was very impressive and we spent over an hour in there looking round. Then we had a (short, chilly) wander round the shops, including Tesco’s before hot footing it to our other favourite place for a warm up.
You think we drink, there was a woman on the table in front of ours who was having a bottle of wine. Then a free glass of wine came with her meal so she drank that as well. Having finished her lunch and her wine she popped out to the shops for about 10 minutes then reappeared and started on the large vodka and cokes!!
When we returned to the boat it was colder than ever and we battened down the hatches. About 5-30 pm a hire boat passed with 4 people on the back looking like michelin men battling through the wind and snow. Rather them than us!
