Friday 24th May
As per the forecast it has been chilly again today with strong winds and squally showers, lovely! We did manage to dodge the showers during our trip to Lichfield though. The bus fare has gone up 20p since we went before, on 17th March, but it was still just about cheaper for Cathy and I to buy a single each way rather than a Day Saver.
When we got to Lichfield Mick and Cathy went off to do their shopping and Ken and I went off to do ours. We would meet up later. I needed another new handbag (aaaargh, buying an expensive one last time didn’t seem to make it last any longer) so I had to drag a reluctant husband round several shops until I found what I was looking for! BTW this is not a replacement for the one I bought recently for the wedding and have only used once. It is a replacement for the extortionately priced one I bought in Burton only last year and which now has a broken zip (never buy a handbag with a metal zip) and a detached shoulder strap fitting.
After getting the handbag we went to Tesco’s to get T shirts for Ken (F&F, nice and long and only £4 each) and a few comestibles. I expect you can guess where we went to meet M & C!
When we got back to the boat we battened down the hatches once more as there were some pretty sharp showers. However, it is now turning into a fairly pleasant evening, if still a bit breezy and chilly.
Tomorrow, at some ungodly hour, we are off to Fradley and if we can find a mooring on the Coventry side are hoping to have a meal with M & C in the Black Swan tomorrow evening.
