Fradley to Tamhorn Park via Whittington – A Glorious Day!

Sunday 26th May

We didn’t see M&C this morning because they left for Branston at stupid o’clock while we were still tucked up in bed! We got up at a more civilised hour and by the time we had got water etc and turned round it was getting on for 10 am.

It has been a gloriously sunny, warm day and we travelled 5.5 miles to Whittington for a start, moored up near Bridge 78 and walked into the village. All the times we have been along here and we have never been into Whittington, although we have been through it on the bus to Lichfield a couple of times.

As it turned out Whittington Bridge would have been a slightly better place to moor for walking in to the village but none of the bridges are really very far from the village centre. We did go the wrong way to start with, as we usually do but soon found The Bell and the handily placed Coop nearly next door.

The Bell is a really nice pub selling Bass and Abbott (2 of our favourite beers) and delicious pork cobs for £2 each as well. It has a large garden out the back as well as a few tables at the front.

We returned to the boat and continued another 1.5 miles to Tamhorn Park where we are moored between Tamhorn House Bridge and Tamhorn Park Bridge. It is lovely along here but also quite popular today with us and another 4 boats, albeit quite widely spaced, along here.

Tomorrow we are going back to Fazeley.
