Day at Braunston – Trip to Rugby on the bus

Monday 10th June

After the excitements of yesterday we slept in late this morning and only had time for tea and fruit before we had to catch the bus at 10 am. We got the number 12 Stagecoach bus from the main road this time, instead of the number 10 Stagecoach bus from the village, which we got last time we went at the beginning of April. It cost me £5-50 this time as opposed to £4-70 when we went then! Not sure if that was because we got a different bus and went a different route or what but it is a bit of an increase.

As we hadn’t had time for breakfast before we left and as we found a convenient bacon roll stall we decided to partake of their wares. Whilst we were doing this we got directions, from the local council man actually, to the fishing tackle shop in Claremont Rd, where we went next for a maggot topping up session.

We had to get Ken a replenishment of Piritons as the hay fever season seems to be taking a hold now. We have got some Piritons left from last year but they had become mysteriously ‘lost’ in the black hole that is our bathroom cupboard. I have subsequently located them since buying the new ones but you can never have too many Piritons can you?

We had another sort of replenishment in The Rupert Brook before catching the bus back to Braunston. We returned to the boat via Midland Chandlers and got the new fire extinguisher we need for the BSC and a few other bits. Ant is coming tomorrow to fit the test point and isolation switch on the gas and hopefully after his visit we will be able to get Nigel to come and do our retest.
