A Frustrating Day at Braunston – Aaaargh!!

Tuesday 11th June

So, have we had our gas test point and isolation valve fitted today? Well, no we haven’t! Why not? The short answer to that is, the chap who was going to come and do the work couldn’t come. He texted to say he had a family problem and wouldn’t be able to make it. It was unfortunate that we didn’t receive the text until 1-30 pm but this may or may not have been to do with the crap Vodafone signal here.

We did get a few things done this morning while we were waiting which was good. Ken rewired the tunnel light and put a new bulb in the starboard navigation light. He also fitted up the new fire extinguisher. I did some more washing and after putting it out and getting it in again a few times when it rained I hung it up in the shower!

Talking of fires, which we weren’t, we know our new smoke alarms work because one of them went off this morning when we made the toast! And it wasn’t even burning!

The (very nice) chap on the boat behind us had his BSC done today and he was pleased because his boat passed. He offered to lend us a cutter for the gas pipe so we could do our job ourselves but we have decided to get someone else to do it and are leaving tomorrow to carry on towards Warwick. I’m sure we can find someone to do it and get a retest before the end of July, it’s just a bloody nuisance that it wasn’t done properly in the first place.

So we’re off to pastures new tomorrow, we have not been to Warwick, either by road or by boat.
