Wednesday 18th – Friday 20th December
The rest of this week has been spent in much the usual way. Nothing memorable on Wednesday as far as I can remember. Thursday morning I had my hair cut then we emptied the loo.
After this we decided to go (up the Bristol Rd) to Lidl and get our Xmas turkey. On the way through the Quays shopping centre Ken took a detour in to M&S Outlet, where he bought himself a new cardi and a nice zip up top. I was amazed because he doesn’t usually go clothes shopping without a bit of a prod! The young lady on the check out counter said she really liked those cardis asked him if it was a bit of last minute shopping for Xmas. He said it was nothing to do with Xmas, he was just being modernised!
After this surprising diversion we continued on to Lidl where we had a look at the fresh turkeys first. We decided they were a bit pricey compared to the frozen ones and wouldn’t be that much better for the money so we got a 4.8Kg frozen one for £9.99. It is a Braemoor brand which we had never heard of but, as Ken ascertained by looking at the EEC licence number on the label, it comes from Bernard Matthew’s.
Today we went to Sainsbury’s to stock up on beer, for general consumption and to get some wine for Xmas consumption. When we buy beer we usually take advantage of a ‘2 for’ or ‘3 for’ offer and although we are not far from the shop it starts to weigh heavy after a while when carrying several boxes, so this time we took our trolley to make it easier to bring back. We got more funny looks walking round with a trolley full of beer than we do when we take the loo cassette to the elsan!
After putting the beer and wine away we went for a walk along the river. We stopped at the lock to look at the water level and found it has now gone up quite a bit. Despite all the rain we have had recently the path along the river was surprisingly not very muddy. It is due to rain all night again tonight, be showery Sat and Sun and wall to wall rain on Monday so that won’t last!
