Today dawned misty and cool I say dawned, it was well past dawn when we got up! We have only travelled 5 miles and 1 lock from Brewood to Wheaton Aston and are moored opposite the Hartley Arms. We had intended mooring above Bridge 18 but there is a community of boats there now so there wasn’t any room. There didn’t look to be room on the 48 hour visitor moorings below the lock either so after we descended the lock we visited the sanitary station and water point and decided to carry on to Norbury Junction.
However, as luck would have it while we were filling with water etc two boats left the moorings opposite the pub so we managed to get in. We had to go to the shop for a card and a paper. I needed to post the card and the lady in the shop directed us to the Post Office where we found a fish van outside. While I was posting the card Ken got a nice piece of smoked haddock for us teas. On the way back we got some free range eggs from the farm near the bridge to have poached with the haddock.
On the way back we fell in to the Hartley Arms for a pint of Cocker Hoop, hoorah! While we were there the Solar Afloat boat moored in front of us and we had a discussion about solar panels with them on the way past. We are thinking about getting solar panels some time.
Tomorrow we are going to Stafford on the bus.
