Back to Sainsbury’s.

Today we have left the County Hall steps after a very pleasant few days moored practically in total isolation. We can’t understand why more people don’t moor there, we love it.

Saturday we walked into town, went round the shops and then back to Machine Mart, which we discovered would have been easier to visit on the way to town as it turned out to be not far from the boat! After Machine Mart we walked back in to town to watch the football in The Company Inn. Then we walked back. We think it was about a 6 mile round trip all together!

Sunday I gave Waveney her first clean of the year. Hmm, she was rather dirty! Ken stayed well out of the way preparing two dinners. After my exertions we walked in to town again for more football.

Yesterday Mum and Dave’s friends John and Kath, who live in Papplewick, came to see us and we had a few pints, as you do and a nice chat. We started off in The Trent Bridge but moved to The Trent Navigation because it is the pub John uses when he goes to football at Forest. It is a nice pub, very convenient for both Forest and County actually.

This morning we were on the move again and we are back at Sainsbury’s now for one night. We did another (rather larger than expected) shop and also went to Curry’s as it was so convenient.

Lunchtime we went to The Navigation. Not the same one as yesterday, this was The Navigation Castle Lock which was one of the first pubs we went in when we first came here in 2010. It is a Blues and real ale pub and among other beers they were doing a lovely pint of Sneck Lifter in there today which is one of my favourites.

On the way there we spotted a female Mandarin Duck. Much drabber than her male counterpart she rather blended in with the background!

Tomorrow we are off to Cranfleet Cut or Trent Lock.
