Monday 24th May
Today started off quite cloudy and the wind was nippy but this afternoon turned out to be another scorcher! Still suffering from yesterday’s overindulgence of sun (I am a silly cow!) I had to be careful today. Hopefully all this red will turn a nice shade of brown soon!
As we missed Marple on the way up we hoped there would be a mooring we could actually get in on the way back and – ta da – there was! Fortuitously within spitting distance of the Ring ‘O Bells (a very nice canalside pub) and not far from the very useful shopping precinct it is ideal. Buses run frequently from here to Stockport and there are trains to Manchester. As Ken needs a new mobile phone (his runs on steam!) and we need to sort out some new mobile broadband, tomorrow we will go to one or the other and get things sorted.
George is more comfortable during the day now he has his foil tent to keep him cool. He managed to stagger to the pub (all of 50 yds) and collapse under the table this afternoon! Mostly he is asleep, bless.
