Trip to Stockport (By Bus)

Tuesday 25th May

This morning we had a trip to Stockport by bus. It was quite a pleasant journey of about 20 mins and a much better run in than the run in to Leicester! The first thing we had to do was find the fishing tackle shop. I had looked it up on the internet last night and got directions so, easy, you may think. Not easy! Armed with said directions from Google (though not a map for which I was berated severely although it probably wouldn’t have made any difference!) we set off from the bus station and …………………………….. one and a half hours of wandering around looking for street names we recognised from the directions and three more lots of directions from passers by later, we found it! I consoled myself with the thought that the walk had done me good. To be fair the directions from Google did seem to go in a completely different direction to where we eventually ended up so it wasn’t entirely our fault. To get back to the bus station from the fishing tackle shop took only 10 minutes, so had we have known where we were going in the first place this excursion would have taken no time at all! C’est la vie.

Next we had to get Ken a new phone to replace the steam one. The young chap who served us was very polite and didn’t laugh out loud when he saw Ken’s old phone but I suspect he wasn’t even born when it was new! The sim card was so old he couldn’t get the internet to work with it so he had to transfer Ken’s contacts to a new blank one so he could keep the same number.

Anyway, Ken is now in possession of a shiny new poser phone. In a few weeks time he should know how to work it!  I, myself, am in possession of a shiny new dongle so we’re both happy!

Back in Marple we went to the very convenient vets to get some ear cleaner for George, so he’s not happy!

Talking of George, due to our taking the scenic route to the tackle shop, we were late getting him to the pub today. However, he was fast asleep when we got back so he hadn’t noticed. I was hoping for lunch as I was starving after all that walking but I just got the usual crisps. Ho hum.
