Wednesday 26th May
Brrrrr, it’s been cold today! I have had to get out the winter clothes and relight the fire! Ken had his gloves on this morning when we travelled the 3.5 miles from Marple to Higher Poynton. We stopped at the Trading Post near Braidbar Boats for some diesel but the Trading Post was not trading today! So we moored up just beyond the bridge where the canal widens as a result of mining subsidence long ago. It is a pretty spot and we would have stopped here on the way up to the Peak Forest last week but there was no room. Luckily there was a space on the end today so we got in it.
There is a convenient pub here as well, hurrah! George is pleased that the weather has cooled down. A) Because he doesn’t like the heat anyway and – B) Because it was too cold to sit outside so he got to go inside the pub. For some reason he doesn’t think it is the same if he just sits outside! After the pub we tried to fool him into going for a walk along the disused railway line. We managed to get a few extra hundred yards out of him before he realised!
Apparently the shop we were looking for when we walked here from Four Lane Ends last week is actually about a mile and a half away, in the village, so we have decided to go there in the morning. Hopefully it will warm up a bit by then!
