This morning, quite early I thought as we didn’t go to bed until about 1-30am, Ken wanted to get up as he said he had another thing he wanted to try with the water pump.
As it turned out what ever he did to it did the trick and it is now behaving itself again (touch wood) so the urgency for a new one is not so great although we are going to get one for a spare.
I had thought about putting the red paint over the red oxide which I did yesterday but my enthusiasm didn’t match my intentions and I didn’t do it.
After Ken had fixed the pump, oh and stuck the handle on our trusty old casserole together with Gorilla Glue (his new favourite DIY accessory) we went off to see if the fishing tackle shop nearby was open this morning. But it wasn’t.
After this we decided to walk in to town again. We are certainly getting plenty of exercise while we are moored up here. It is about a 3 mile round trip to the town and back, that is without walking round the shops when we get there.
We went round by Lady Bay Bridge this time for a change and I took some photos which I hadn’t been able to take before. We went to Wilko’s to get some electrical cable for his halogen lamp as, surprisingly, it didn’t have any provided with it. I got a new shelf for the bathroom things (another job for Ken to do later). It’s the same as the one we’ve got so it will be easy to swap.
We decided to go to the Canalhouse Bar today as it is an interesting building and has a lovely canalside patio (see photos) and we haven’t been there yet. It was a very nice experience and although we hadn’t heard of any of the beers they had on (Castle Rock) we found one we liked very much. Not wishing to sound like a snob but there seemed to be a better class of clientele there than we have been experiencing lately as well!
We returned to the boat and tortured ourselves with the England v Ireland football, crap! We went and sat outside even though the wind was still a bit cool when the sun went in and got treated to some ZZ Top from the boat moored about 6 down from us! We didn’t need to put our own stereo on!
I had just gone in to dish up the dinner when 4 rather attractive young foreign ladies came along and asked Ken how much he would charge them for a ride! I just can’t leave him unattended for five minutes! He is still getting over the shock.
Tomorrow we are probably staying here again.
