Just when you thought it was safe – I have returned to bore you once more. I have had a month’s self inflicted but as it turned out unnecessary absence from blogging. I had decided to stop writing this for fear of mentioning something which I would later regret to do with a secret party we were attending for Dave’s 80th birthday. As it happened, when I told Dave why I had stopped blogging he said he hadn’t read it for ages, so I could have carried on!
Basically all you have missed is us travelling from the County Hall steps to Sawley Marina via Sainsbury’s and a couple of days at Beeston, with a trip to Hucknall on the tram thrown in!
Anyway, we had a lovely just over 2 weeks in East Anglia with our friends and family. We even visited the East Anglian branch of Ken’s family – in Winterton churchyard!
Now we are back and on the move. Yesterday we came off the visitor moorings at Sawley Marina and moored on the opposite side of the canal for the day. We went in to Long Eaton so Ken could visit the fishing tackle shop and so we could get a few groceries in at Asda. In the evening Ken did some fishing catching a fish a cast.
Today we got up a bit late but it didn’t matter as we only intended to move to Trent Lock, a trip of about a mile. It was rather chilly and breezy today so a short journey was just the job. After mooring on the pontoons at Trent Lock Ken made a curry and I paid for our October holiday to Lanzarote. As the Euro is not very strong at the moment it seemed a good time to do it.
We had a lunchtime sojourn to The Trent Lock for a very nice pint of Rev James. This afternoon I have been slobbing about watching tennis and Ken has been fishing again. He caught about a dozen Dace in 10 minutes!
Tomorrow we may stay here again and walk to Long Eaton.
