Bugsworth – More Rain!

Sunday 18th July

Today has been mostly wet – no change there then! It has either rained lightly or rained hard basically. There have been a few dry spells but none of them long enough to do anything remotely useful to the boat. We are hoping for a window of opportunity tomorrow but aren’t holding our breath. Obviously we have had a lot of really nice weather when, instead of lotus eating, we could have been cleaning and painting etc but we didn’t so there it is! We’ll get things done eventually and when we do – it will all need doing again, like painting the Forth bridge.

We had one of those ‘I can’t believe it’ moments today. We have a tennis ball which we have cut a slit in and we put over the top of our mooring spike so people walking along the tow path can see it and don’t trip over either the spike or our mooring rope. When we returned from the pub today the tennis ball had disappeared. It fits really tightly over the end of the spike so it couldn’t have fallen off or got blown away by the wind. Even if someones dog took a fancy to it they would find it quite difficult to remove, so the only conclusion we could come to is that someone has nicked it! Why? Who on Earth would want a damaged tennis ball? Amazing. It’s probably gone the same way as the umbrella we lost at Gurnett. Ho hum.

I suspect you’ve barely noticed but there have been no photographic additions lately. This is due to the fact that we have been here before and I didn’t feel it necessary to bore you with duplicate photos, taken in the rain, of places you have already seen taken in the sun!
