Today has been a day of two halves weatherwise. Lovely and dry am and wet and windy pm. Fortunately we had completed the 5 mile and 2 lock trip from Branston to Willington well before the rain.
During the journey, between doing the locks, making coffee, cooking a ratatouille and a bolognaise, I tackled the European Ironing Mountain which for some reason keeps appearing on my dinette!
We arrived at Willington about 10-30am and moored just through the bridge opposite the Dragon. After mooring we decided to go to Burton on the bus. There were several items we required from the shops including wash and wax for the boat, polo shirts and t shirts for Ken from Sports Direct, socks, and some things from Asda and Wilko’s.
After doing our shopping we waited for the bus in the usual place and had a very nice pint of Abbot. While we were doing this I decided we needed some digital bathroom scales as our dial ones are very inaccurate! So after ascertaining that Argos had what I was after I popped round there to get them.
By the time we came out of the pub it had started raining but luckily it didn’t rain hard until we had got back to the boat.
Unfortunately one of Ken’s new polo shirts was sized up wrong and wouldn’t even go over his head so we have got to go back to Burton tomorrow to change it.
