Day at Market Drayton – Shopping and Rain!

Saturday 21st August

Today we stayed at Market Drayton. Firstly Ken attatched the new water pump more securely in it’s position (still working well) and bubble wrapped it to prevent vibration. Then we went off to Morrison’s again. This time we meant business, taking our sack barrow with us for the heavy stuff. This proved to be a good idea for carrying cases of beer, boxes of wine (surely not) and tinned produce. It was nice to walk back without a load of tins of tomatoes and fruit digging in my back, I got to carry the easy stuff like kitchen roll!

Lunchtime, as we had snuck off to the Wetherspoon’s in town without him yesterday, we took George to The Talbot, a pretty uninspiring pub but near to the canal for him. It started raining as soon as we had got our drinks so we sat under a rather small gazebo and just about kept dry! It rained so hard the water was splashing up off the ground and this low wall we were sitting near and we got a bit damp.

We got back to the boat during a brief window of rainless opportunity and it has rained on and off, more on than off, ever since!

Tomorrow we have to move off these 48 hour moorings so we are going to Adderley or beyond to Audlem depending on how many locks I feel like doing.
