Day at Ellesmere

Wednesday 29th September

We made the right decision not to travel today – the weather this morning was awful. Not really a day to take the cratch cover off but we had to get the zip done. Our new one is so much more substantial than the old one so hopefully now we have had 2 new zips we won’t have any more trouble. However, the first replacement zip we had was put in by the company who made the cover and is the same as the original one so we aren’t discounting needing another new one in the future!

We also did a Tesco shop, stocking up for the journey to Trevor. Tomorrow’s weather is supposed to be fairly good so we are going to get to the Chirk Aqueduct and see what it’s like on Friday for doing that and the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Ken doesn’t want it to be windy!

We also took George, in the rain, to the Market Hotel where he was given biscuits by the landlady, had half of my ham and tomato roll then went to sleep, snoring loudly! As it was raining quite hard on the way there he went really fast and wore himself out, bless.

In the afternoon the weather improved so Ken and I went for a walk round the mere. It would be a shame to visit Ellesmere and not see the mere! It is quite attractive (see photos) and has a steam trip boat on it, although it wasn’t in use today. Then we went round the town as well. It is a very useful place to visit with good shopping facilities.

So, Chirk tomorrow then.
