Thursday 30th September
It’s been a lovely day and we have travelled 9 miles and 2 locks to Rhoswiel, which is just outside Chirk. This canal is quite narrow in places and sometimes is a bit shallow too so it’s quite difficult to make much speedy headway. There are still a lot of boats about as well so every bridge or row of moored boats is a slow process. It was 4 o’clock by the time we got here and moored up. We decided not to carry on to Chirk in case we couldn’t find a mooring. The Black Prince hire base is there and we had seen quite a few going that way. They would be trying to moor up as close as possible to the base tonight as they have to be back tomorrow so there may not be much room. Having said that we’ll probably find there are loads of moorings there when we go through tomorrow!
This is a nice spot although there is no TV signal here at all. Phone and internet are ok though so we are listening to the footie on the radio on the computer. Arlanza is moored up here too and poor old Jim has a cold, (man flu) bless!
If the weather is not too bad tomorrow we will try to make it to Trevor, but the forecast is pretty bad! Obviously we would like to have fairly good weather for the aqueducts but at least we can have another go at them on the way back! We have decided that we will be able to make it to Llangollen with our draught so we will be off there after Trevor.
