Wednesday 27th October
Yesterday it rained most of the day so we didn’t bother to move anywhere. We pottered about indoors for a while then went to the BW office to get a change of address form and to find out if the elsan was fixed. When I went to do ours when we got here it was backed right up to the top, yuk! Why is it always my turn to report that the elsan is broken? It’s happened to me 3 times now.
George was very tired, he didn’t even go out for the first time until 10am and that was only because I made him. He wasn’t very enthusiastic about going to the pub so we left him at home when we went to the Swan. Ken and I succumbed to the cheese and bacon rolls and chips – jolly nice they were too!
Ken tried, unsuccessfully again, to catch some fish.
Today we have moved to Alrewas and are moored just above Alrewas lock. This is only 2 miles from where we were last night! We wanted to stop here – a) To go to the shops – b) To go to the pub and – c) So Ken could have yet another attempt at catching a zander!
Well, we went to the shops and we went to the pub but unfortunately Ken still hasn’t caught a zander, bless!
On the way into Alrewas we saw ‘Ami Bovared’ moored up, we last saw them at Weston in August. And moored behind us now is ‘Painted Lady’, we last saw them at Branston in April. It’s nice to catch up with people you’ve previously met.
I spoke to Barbara on the phone today, they are back at MGM and she and Barry are going to come over to Mercia to see us next month. It will be nice to see them again too.
