Wednesday 30th March
How useful have we been today? Well, you’ll be amazed!
First thing this morning (well about 9am) we went to Sainsbury’s and did a stock up shop for the next leg of our journey. There are not many towns along the next bit of the route so we took advantage of the facilities here.
On our return I replaced all the faulty door catches we had (10) on the cupboards and other doors. The small hardware shop here had just what we wanted at 2 for 95p with a 5 year guarantee, can’t fault it. Then I cleaned the black residue off the red bit below the gunwhales, which comes off the fenders and cleaned the side of the boat.
Ken has blacked the side of the boat (I told you he was going to show it a paint roller) and red oxided the rusty patches on the red bit below the gunwhales. So we are actually making an effort to patch up the paintwork!
Just as we finished these tasks it started to rain so we adjourned to the Red Bear! Ken thrashed me at pool but I do have a bad arm which affects my cueing action (that’s my excuse anyway).
The boat which got grounded on the island the other day has finally turned up. I think they may be a bit pissed off because we didn’t help them, they aren’t very talkative anyway!
George has been asleep most of the day, bless!
