Monday 25th April
Today we left Barnoldswick, where we have been since last Thursday and moved on to Barrowford, just on the outskirts of Burnley. Since last I wrote we have mostly been lazing around in the hot weather, going in to town shopping or going down to Saltersford to the pub.
Last night, shock, horror, we actually had a BBQ. B and B were going to have one so we thought we’d join in. We did buy a BBQ some time ago, with the intention of using it as a smoker for fish, so we just needed charcoal and burgers! We had some chicken thighs which we did in the oven (to make sure they were cooked) and put them on the BBQ later. It was the first time we have ever had one and our new BBQ was quite successful except for the copious amounts of smoke it managed to produce, blotting out the neighbours! (see photo)
We were going to loiter in the vicinity of Barnoldswick until Louise (Barbara’s daughter) comes this Thursday but have decided to meet her at Hapton instead. Oh, I must remember to cancel the hair appointment I made and put a bag on my head! So we have travelled 5 miles, come through the Foulridge Tunnel and down the 7 Barrowford locks today and are moored at the bottom. Now we are going down the locks the water is no longer pouring in the front and filling the gas locker – No, it’s pouring in the back, all over Ken! (see photo)
It is ok here so we will stay tomorrow. As we are moored on the other side I can clean the neglected side of the boat!
