Good News …… and Bad News!

Hi everyone,

Just back from what we thought would be our penultimate visit to Thurmaston (more on why it wasn’t later!) and there is mixed news.

The good news is ‘Waveney’ is really starting to look fab now. Kevin, the signwriter has done the script and it looks great. He is starting the bird pictures today. Unfortunately, the fact that he is signwriting at the moment means she  is still in the tunnel, so I can’t get any good photos yet.

Lots has been done since we were there last week. For example, we now have a toilet (that’s a relief!). Ropes, fenders, pole, gang plank, cratch, navigation light etc have all appeared. The cooker is in but the fridge has yet to make an appearance. All the internal doors, including the glazed hatch interior doors are waiting to be fitted.

Mark was going to lay the wooden floors in the saloon and cabin yesterday after we left and Martin was finishing off the wardrobes. The cantilever bed is operational but the mattress will be another week!!

This brings me to the bad news – the chaps say that realistically it will be another 2 weeks before we can move in!  Aaaaaaargh again!

So are we downhearted? Not really, obviously we want to move in asap but we would rather they did a really good job and everything was totally finished before we do, so we thought ‘bugger it’ and booked a holiday to the Peak District!

So the day we go away we will take our remaining stuff (which is not much now!) to Thurmaston for storage and we will move straight on to ‘Waveney’ at the end of our hols.

Peter’s house sale is progressing nicely and so is ours. All in all things are ok, if a bit delayed.

Hopefully the next news will be moving on news!

Cheers B.
