Tuesday 10th July
Our second trip to Macclesfield was not so wet as the first although it did start raining as soon as we alighted from the bus, of course! Talking of the bus, my fare was the same as it was from Fourlane Ends (£3-70) even though Bollington is a lot closer to Macclesfield! We managed to get round the shops without getting drowned and made some bargain purchases, including a huge, football sized, cauliflower from Iceland of all places (the shop not the country) for £1.
We were a bit calamitous today with Ken nearly taking out several people in the covered market with his umbrella (which he didn’t actually need this time) sticking out of the top of his rucksack. He also got into a tangle with a rather rude chap in a wheelchair, who had been parked, by his equally rude wife, right behind Ken while she barged past me to get to the newspaper stand. Later on I managed to destroy a display of fishing rods in the tackle shop with my rucksack as well! Not a good day.
Back at the covered market we partook of a couple of massive chicken rolls from one of the stalls, very nice but the chap did put in a little too much pickle. You can guess where we went next!
Tomorrow we must make a move because we need to get water, empty the elsan and get rid of the sack of rubbish which is currently festering in the shower!
Oh, I forgot to mention the new file Ken purchased on our first trip. He’s been having another go at the prop but it remains to be seen if this has had any effect. I’m thinking probably not!
