Day at Penkridge

Monday 17th October

Today we have really broken all distance records and just moved up about quarter of a mile nearer the village. This was primarily so it wouldn’t be so far for our dear old dog to walk to the pub but also so it wouldn’t be so far for the dear old husband to walk to the fishing tackle shop and the village and the pub!

While Ken went off to the FT shop I did a bit of outside cleaning (again) and leaf removal. We need to moor the other way round because I have done this side of the boat 3 times recently! After a bit of lunch we took George to The Boat which was still quite a walk for him, even though we had moved up, but it did he seemed to enjoy it. He was pleased to find he was allowed in to the pub which was just as well because it rained while we were in there. He had a bit of fuss from a couple of ladies too so that was a bonus. As we were finishing our drinks a huge, hairy, bouncy, black dog came in and George went mental so it was a good job we were then going!

When we got back we battened down the hatches in readiness for the gale force winds and rain expected this evening and which have indeed arrived. Tomorrow we are hoping to get to Tixall if it has calmed down a bit.
