Wednesday 14th March
Today we have travelled nearly 10 miles and 12 locks from Kilby Bridge to Foxton, taking 6 hours. I am including the amount of hours we take to do these journeys so you know how long it takes (obviously)!
It has been quite cold today, dull with no sun until about 5pm, which was no good to us! By the time we had travelled from the last lock, Kibworth Top Lock, to Foxton we were frozen! The rest of the journey Barbara and I were ok because we walked nearly all of it!
We were closely persued by the hire boat which had moored at Kilby last night. They had 8 crew so one of their chaps was helping us a lot of the time which was handy. At Kibworth we had some problems with low water but all in all it wasn’t too bad.
Obviously when we got to Foxton we had to take George for a walk and he led us to Bridge 61 where we had to sample the local brew, aptly named Inclined Plane, (which Ken didn’t like) and the Adnam’s Bitter (which of course he did).
When we got back Barry was fishing and as we arrived he caught a fish you needed a magnifying glass to see! As Ken had to cook the dinner he gave the fishing a miss.
Hopefully we will be able to get up the Foxton flight tomorrow.
