Sorry this is a day late but there is absolutely no internet signal for 3 at Lower Heyford or any Vodafone or Orange or T Mobile signal either come to that!
Tuesday 12th June
Tuesday it was lovely and dry, hurrah and we left Thrupp, travelled 7 miles and 5 locks and moored near bridge 207 and very near the railway line. The trains were frequent there and when two came along at once you could feel the vibrations in the boat! We moored there because we didn’t want to get past the Long Term Moorings and find there were no spaces on the 48 hours before the water point. We didn’t want to go past the water point because we wanted to get water again Wednesday as I am catching up with the washing after not being able to get water since last Wednesday.
On the way to Lower Heyford we met Dusty the coal and diesel boat, which was lucky because we needed some diesel. We were not in a place where we could moor up at the time so we just drifted about in the middle of the canal while he filled us up! No one came along needing to pass us so it wasn’t a problem. In fact we didn’t seen many boats all day really.
We arrived at Lower Heyford about 2pm hot footed it to The Bell for a pint. And that was about all we did have because they closed at 2-45pm! Nice pub though with a very entertaining vicar in there when we arrived. We came back the scenic route and Ken nearly got stuck in a rather snug kissing gate!
Next we are heading for Aynho.
