Aynho to Banbury

Thursday 14th June

Taking advantage of the fact that the weather had yet to go tits up this morning we moved on another 6 miles and 4 locks from Aynho to Banbury. We are moored on the 14 day moorings South of Samuelson Bridge. It is pretty full along here but on our walk into town we noticed there were loads of other moorings, 14 day and 48 hour all the way to the town centre and plenty of free ones.

Our trip in to town consisted of a visit to the fishing tackle shop – yes the new season is upon us so the fridge has to accommodate a supply of maggots again, the pet shop – for comestibles for our aged family pet and of course, the Wetherspoons. All of these destinations just happened to be in the same street, how convenient was that?

We are going to stay here for a few days now, what with the weather forecast being pretty crap and the fact that I have been pretty crap lately as well. I have booked an appointment, for tomorrow morning, with the doctor at the walk in health centre so hopefully that situation will improve. I also want to try and get my hair cut while we are here as I am resembling a bush faggot again!

We have yet to see the famous Banbury Cross but I’m sure we will discover it at some point. Morrison’s is conveniently situated near here too so a stocking up session is on the cards.
