Friday 15th June
This morning we decided we needed to take George to the vets, bless. He has had a bit of an eye infection for a while which has got worse lately. Also, last week, he knocked the front of his leg and a small cut has developed into a bit of an infected lump. So we went to Hawthorne Lodge vets in West Bar St and made him an appointment for this afternoon. We had to book a taxi to get him there as well.
As we are moored near Canalside House on the Tramway Industrial Estate we thought it would prove a good picking up point for the taxi because I could provide the post code. The taxi driver had other ideas though and went past the end of the road twice instead of turning down it! I had to phone the taxi firm twice and in the end the owner, a very nice woman, came and picked us up herself! The return trip only cost £8 (we gave her £10) bargain!
The vets is right near Banbury Cross and I thought I would take some photos on the way past but it was covered with scaffolding and screens. We found out later that this was because they have been grit blasting it but it would be uncovered today. This afternoon when we went back to the vets it had indeed been uncovered and looks very nice so I will get some photos tomorrow.
After all the messing about with the taxi we were late for George’s appointment and had to wait for a while but it didn’t matter. He is on antibiotics for his leg and two types of drops for his eye. Hopefully he will be better soon.
Apart from my trip to the doctors and the usual, we haven’t done much else today. There will be excitement tomorrow though, I am getting my first hair cut since the end of February, hope the hairdresser has sharp scissors!
