Thursday 9th May
Not much of note to report today really. Apart from having my hair cut, doing a HUGE shop at Wilko’s and going to the pub as usual we haven’t done anything earth shattering.
The weather has been grim with blustery showers on and off throughout the day and it has turned a bit chilly too. We did walk up to Sovereign to find out if they would be open tomorrow but they won’t so we won’t be able to get any diesel before we leave. They only open Tue, Wed and Thurs so it’s a pity we haven’t timed things a bit better! We could have got diesel at Aynho but decided to get it here. Anyway, we have plenty to be going on with and can get some at Fenny Compton in a few days time.
One amusing thing we noticed today, well it amused us anyway, concerned some signage in Wilko’s (see photos).
Just after dinner Penny knocked on the window and wanted to know if we wanted to go out for a drink tonight. We don’t very often go out in the evenings actually so Ken said why didn’t she come round to us, we had a couple of bottles of red wine.
After she had gone we suddenly realised that in fact we didn’t have any wine! We had intended to get some in Morrison’s on Tuesday (for just such an occasion) but we had rather a lot of other shopping to carry, so we said we’d get some Wednesday. Wednesday we all went to the pub at lunchtime so we didn’t need to get any wine and subsequently we forgot all about it.
So, Ken had to do the washing and drying up while I hot footed it round to Tesco’s for supplies before Penny turns up later!
