Tuesday 4th June
Another late start today I’m afraid. We were just coming round (at 8-15 am, we’re such lazy devils) when we heard a woman outside calling, so we thought at the time, her dog – Malcolm! However, when we had fully awoken we realised no one calls their dog Malcolm (do they?) so she must have been calling her husband, mustn’t she?
Anyway, when we had finally finished breakfast I did a load of washing. This warm and windy weather is ideal for getting badly wrung washing dry! I can’t wring things out very well and they usually take days to dry.
While I was doing this Ken cleaned all the chrome light fittings (we have 25 of them) and the mushroom vent liners all of which are now sparkling like new! I am particularly pleased about the mushroom vent liners because I really did think we were going to have to get new ones they had got so badly tarnished. That, of course, is my fault for not cleaning them often enough myself!
Later on we had a walk to the shop and then the pub of course, which was very busy for an ordinary Tuesday lunch time.We had a nice time chatting to a lady about her rescue dog and to her mother who was very interested in how we live on our boat.
I went mad later on and polished the chrome wall plug sockets as well! I also did a load of hoovering, mopping and dusting while Ken did a bit of fishing.
Today was practically the hottest day of the year and we had a huge lamb stew for dinner, a bit of mistiming with the menu planning but delicious never the less.
Tomorrow we are going to Nuneaton. What again? I hear you cry. Well, we want to avail ourselves of the fantastic fish stall one more time before we leave on Saturday.
