Tuesday 15th April
We have only come a short distance today. 5 miles and only 1 manned lock from The Lenchford Inn to Stourport. We are moored on the 48 hour pontoons on the river. We were undecided right up until the last minute as to whether we were going to moor on the river or go up the locks to the basin. When we got to the locks there was this very inviting space on the end of the pontoon as we went past so we turned round, went back and moored up!
We like mooring on the river better than in the basin or at the top of York Street lock as it is a lot more open. It is quite near the fairground but the noise is not that intrusive. Being Easter week (or pre-easter week) there are a lot of families about but they don’t really have to come right down to the pontoons. Some local youth did venture on here earlier on but after catching sight of Mr Meldrew here they left!
It has been a lovely day and we have spent a good deal of it sitting outside watching the world go by. That said I did clean the Starboard side of the boat this afternoon and made a new back deck mat out of three Wilko’s rubber doormats. Talking of Wilko’s – their adverts with the pirate ship are the best things on telly at the moment, brilliant!
We have got to stay here tomorrow to take advantage of the fact that Wetherspoon’s is having Broadside on at £1-99 a pint!
