Busy Day at Stourport – And a bird crapped on my head!

We have had a very productive day between us today. Ken was outside playing with his Dremmel at 8-30 am! He has done another round of sand and touch-up on the exterior paintwork. It’s like painting the Forth Bridge though, just when you think you’ve finished ……!

While himself was out of the way I busied myself with interior cleaning, which is so much easier without having to go around a large uncooperative husband! I also cleaned the windows again now the threat of Saharan dust is no more.

Lunchtime we popped off to the Wetherspoon’s in anticipation of a nice pint of Broadside but they must have put it on last night and it must have been very popular because it was no where to be seen! In it’s place there was Doombar, aaaargh! So we had to settle for Abbott which was very nice but not Broadside.

We returned to the boat and Ken carried on with the top coats of the touching up. I made a bolognaise, not for tonight but because the mince went out of date on Monday!

There was a barely fledged bird flapping around on the bank outside the boat and he kept coming over the pontoon and getting on our gunwales. Ken took him back to dry land and put him under the tree which we think he had fallen out of. Later he came across again this time straight through the open hatch and landed on my head. He must have thought my hair made a good nest!

After he had flapped off, we had caught him and returned him to dry land again I discovered that the dirty little bugger had crapped in my hair!  And I had literally just washed it too!

The brat rating has gone up considerably today with a family resembling the Dingles from Emmerdale coming on to the pontoon and fishing with nets. It would not have been too bad but the kids kept running up and down shouting every time they caught something! Good job us two grumpy buggers will be out of here before Easter Weekend!

SO, tomorrow we will be off up the locks and on to the Staffs and Worcester Canal heading in the general direction of North.
