Tuesday 13th April
It has been a really lovely day here in Swarkestone and so productive too. Just in case you think all we do is drift about and go to the pub here is what we did today.
I cleaned the hob, cleaned the windows, did the ironing and the hoovering and I polished the brass (again!) This morning Ken constructed a wooden casing to go round the outside of our coal pallet to make things look a bit tidier on the top of the boat and this afternoon he painted it. Before that he fitted some cleats to the top of the boat to attatch his inflatable to. Oh and he also riddled his maggots! George lazed around in his cage on the bank most of the time.
Lunchtime we did go back to the pub, naturally. George actually seemed to enjoy the walk there, which was a total change from when we took him to the Bell in Long Eaton! There is no rhyme or reason to his moods!
There was one slight disaster today. When I went to do the veg for dinner, we were having the rest of the pot roast, I discovered we had run out of potatoes. They told us at the pub there is no shop here and the garage doesn’t sell potatoes so we had to have lots of veg and bread dip instead of potatoes! Ken likes bread dip but I’m not keen.
Tomorrow we are moving on to Willington. Hopefully the shop there will have potatoes!
