Wednesday 14th April
It was a hat and gloves job this morning when we set off! After the warm weather we have had recently, I was in shock I can tell you!
Having done the mighty Stenson lock this morning we have finished with the large locks for a while, hurrah! I will now start driving I think, I need to keep my hand in. By some miracle when we arrived at Willington there was no one on the sanitary station so we were able to do the necessary fairly quickly. After which we moved up and moored for the pub and shops. George was once again fairly enthusiastic to go to the pub, which wasn’t very far so he was pleased!
Later on we moved just out of the village and moored again. We had a cup of tea and a squidgy cake (naughty!) and Ken tried to do some fishing. Between the hire boats coming past at break neck speed and pulling our mooring pins out, so he had to put them back in, he actually caught one fish you needed a microscope to see ………….. and a snail!
We’ll probably move on to Branston tomorrow. Hopefully we won’t get into a pickle (groan!) I think I made a similarly awful joke last time we went there, sorry.
