Branston to Branston – Turning at Barton Turns

Today we have travelled 5 miles and 4 locks (2 twice) and ended up nearly where we started. I say nearly because we were intending to moor in the same place we had left but when we returned there was a fisherman in it! This was not a problem as there is no one else moored along here at the moment but a bit annoying all the same.

Anyway, that aside it has been a lovely day with a brilliant sunrise glimpsed through the hedge and excellent cruising weather with no wind and it wasn’t that cold either.

Going to Barton Turns, turning round, stopping for water and coming back took 2 and a half hours and filled the morning in nicely.

When we got back we walked up to Morrison’s (again) and got a few bits which turned into 2 rucksacks full as usual! We had to stop at The Blacksmith’s on the way back of course.

Tomorrow we are moving back to Shobnall Fields again where we will be staying for a couple of days before returning to Willington for the weekend.

Hopefully the work on Weston and Shardlow locks will be completed on shedule at the weekend so we can finally make our way down to Sawley for Xmas.
