Trent Lock to Zouch

Today we have travelled 5.5 miles and 3 locks, up the River Soar, from Trent Lock to Zouch, which took about 3 hours. It was a dull and quite chilly day but not windy. We like mooring at Zouch because it is nice and open.

It is also a handy spot for touching up blacking which I will have a go at tomorrow while Ken checks the batteries and the stern greaser.

We can get a Skylink bus into Loughborough from here. We have been through Loughborough on the canal several times and stopped overnight 3 times but we have never been in to the town centre. If we finish our jobs at a decent time tomorrow we may go and give it a look.

The pub here, The Rose and Crown, does a nice pint of Abbott, which we partook of at lunchtime, obviously, along with their free wifi. Unfortunately they had some God awful music channel on the tv near where we were sitting which only redeemed itself by playing Uptown Funk (twice) our new favourite record.

So it’s maintenance tomorrow, deep joy!
