Barrow to Syston

It has been a lovely day today, bright and calm if a little chilly. We have travelled 5.5 miles and 4 locks from Barrow to Syston and are moored outside the Hope and Anchor.

We stopped at Sileby Mill for coal, water and to empty the loo. While we were there we purchased yet another new chimney.

This time we have gone for a stainless steel one, at great expense, but we are not sure it will last any longer than the previous ones! We bought the last one not even a year ago. In fact we have had at least one new chimney every year since we bought the boat. We live in hope that this one will be longer lasting.

This evening we have been for a steak at the Hope and Anchor which, unfortunately, was not as good as the steaks we have had there in the past, so we were a bit disappointed. Luckily it wasn’t expensive.

Tomorrow we are going to walk to Thurmaston via the water park and see Barry and Barbara.
