Stoke Golding to Shackerstone – Stopped in the nick of time!

Yesterday was wet and windy so we didn’t cruise. We went to Nuneaton again on the bus to see if we could sort out our power tip problem at Maplins. It transpired that there are no power tips to fit our particular computer so unless we are able to source a 12v charger direct from HP we will have to continue charging it on 240v. A bit of a nuisance when we aren’t cruising or running the engine but never mind.

Today we had another earlyish start and again Ken left without me! We arrived at the sanitary station at Sutton Wharf, 2 miles away, by about 8-15am. We met Wild Thyme there and had a chat with them while we both filled with water and I did rubbish and loo.

We then carried on travelling for another 7 miles, past Market Bosworth, which we will visit on the way back. We had planned to go to the terminus of the canal at Snarestone today but as we came under Turn Bridge at Shackerstone the sky looked really ominous (see photo) so we quickly made the decision to moor up before the heavens opened.

We are moored opposite a farm in a nice open, rural position and as luck would have it there is a nice pub here which we tripped up and fell into shortly after mooring up and shortly before it started raining!

Tomorrow we are going to go to the terminus, turn round and return to Market Bosworth. We are rushing this trip somewhat but we have to be at Tamworth by the middle of next week and are just doing it to fill in some time because we don’t really like the Coventry. We plan to return here in the Autumn and do it again properly.
