Today has been a lovely day and taking advantage of this I have cleaned the boat. Well, the port side, back and front and as much of the roof as I could reach without actually getting up there. A couple of months on the rivers Trent and Soar have meant I haven’t done much cleaning, mostly due to the heights of the moorings not being conducive to it. Ken very kindly took the anchor off the roof so I could do a bit more, bless!
After this flurry of activity we walked to Stenson Bubble. This is a nice walk of about 35 minutes along the canal. Stenson Lock was very busy with boats which kept the volunteer lock keepers employed and the myriad of gongoozlers not only on the towpath but at the Lock Cottage Cafe and all sitting on the grass around the lock, were well entertained.
The Stenson Bubble Inn was also busy as it was a nice day we sat outside. The people watching was pretty good as was the beer, which was properly priced today too!
We walked back and then sat about drinking tea, scoffing biscuits and falling asleep. After dinner Ken started fishing again but has thus far been interrupted every five minutes by boat traffic! Mind you he has caught a lot of tiddlers. Maybe they will get bigger now it has calmed down.
Tomorrow we are off to Branston.
