Friday 25th March
And yet again another lovely warm day but that’s it now I fear. Today we travelled 11 miles to Lincoln, found no moorings and so came 5.5 miles back to Saxilby, where there are plenty of moorings.
This is a handy stop over with 2 pubs, a newsagent/convenience store, post office, DIY shop (hmm not sure about that) and chippy and Chinese takeaway etc. There is also a water point and sanitary station.
The journey to Lincoln was more of the same really, high grass banks and not much to see. I have never done so much house (boat) work as I have these past couple of days! The approach to Lincoln is lined with residential boats of all shapes, sizes and states of repair. Unfortunately there were only 3 visitor moorings (that we could see) outside the university campus and only one of them was free so we went up to Brayford Pool and turned round.
We will go back to Lincoln tomorrow – on the bus!
