Ferrybridge to Castleford

Monday 4th April

Not a huge trip again today, just 5 miles and 1 lock to Castleford. It was pretty cold on the river so we were glad to stop after a couple of hours.

After a cup of tea and a sandwich we took George for a walk back to the lock and over to the Ings. These are lakes formed by mining subsidence. It looked like a nice place for a walk but it started raining so we came back. George was pleased, apart from the fact that the walk didn’t culminate in a visit to the pub!

We and B and B then walked into towm. It was a lot bigger than we thought and we spent some time wandering round the shops and the market. Of course we went to the pub as well. The one we picked was ok except that there was no real ale (again) and it was quite noisy.

We walked back a different way – right past the Wetherspoon’s, aaaargh! We could have had a nice pint of Abbott had we have known.

Tomorrow we are going to Leeds where we will moor up in Clarence Dock for a few days.
